Mr. Salazar Maurer has served as the CEO of Pesquera Diamante for 11 years between 2007 and 2018. The company is the third largest fishing company with average sales of US$300 million, is among the top 150 companies, and top 50 exporters in Peru. During his tenure the company migrated from a family runed company to the implementation of corporate governance, included Independent Directors in its Board, and opened its capital for institutional investors.
Before joining Diamante, his last position in Citibank del Peru was Director of Corporate & Investment Banking, where he participated the origination and structuring of syndicated loans, international and local bond issuances, M&As, and securities issuances; being the most relevant the Antamina project, the Southern Copper Corporation and Cerro Verde expansions, and the Pierina and Lagunas Norte projects for Barrick Gold Corp. He joined Citibank in 1992 and held several positions during his tenure there, including Vice President of Metals and Mining corporate group, Chairman and General Manager of Citileasing (Asset Based Financing), Manager of Real Estate Unit, and Co-Head of Securities Services area. Also, in Citi Peru he was a Member in the Corporate Policy Committee and in the Assets & Liabilities Committee.
He is currently a member of the Investment Committee for Sigma SAFI, one of the largest fund managers in Perú. Also participates as an Independent Board Member for Price Forbes Peru Reinsurance Brokers, a subsidiary of Price Forbes & Partners Ltd. (UK). Previously, he has was an Independent Board Member and Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee for Pesquera Centinela owned by Romero Group in Perú, Director for the Sociedad Nacional de Pesquería, in the Cámara de Compensación Electrónica-ASBANC, Citicorp SAB, for Operación Sonrisa Perú (an affiliate of Operation Smile International), Los Inkas Golf Club, and Club Esmeralda Yacht Club.
Mr. Salazar holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Universidad del Pacífico, specialized in Finance and Marketing, has attended the Universidad de Piura´s Senior Management Program, and is certified in the Directors Program by the Pacífico Business School.
